Dynamic Alarming Reality
Many people incorrectly interpret "dynamic alarming" as an
easy fix for too many alarms. At face value it's very attractive
- Just put a big blanket on top of all that mess and the blanket
will be smart enough to let the important stuff through.
That's a really neat concept, but look under the hood and
you'll find that the time and labor required to successfully
implement dynamic alarming are higher than you might have
expected. Many dynamic alarming solutions are also intrusive
to the DCS - actually manipulating values in the configuration
files - a daunting obstacle for many organizations to cross.

LogMate TiPSView 3.30 Released
LogMate TiPSView (the LogMate web services product) has been
updated to version 3.30 (TiPSView includes netView, ACE, AlarmKB,
SSRS). This new version includes several enhancements, including:
- New alarm activity analyses:
- Overview - A table view of performance stats. Compare two variable date ranges on one table.
- Fleeting Alarms - Based on the EEMUA definition of "Fleeting". Essentially an alarm that toggles on and off very quickly
- Support for Windows Active Directory logins. Automatically synchronize LogMate user accounts with your Windows server accounts.
- Copy/paste configuration items in the AlarmKB. Copy one alarm setup to mutiple tags. Makes faster work of alarm rationalization, or alarm system design.
- Several other efficiency and utility enhancements
