The
TiPS User Conference came to Austin, TX this past April
17-19 and brought with it some powerful and intriguing presentations,
including an enlightening and encouraging keynote from Dr.
Peter Martin of Invensys® regarding financial measurement
of engineering and automation activities. Walt Boyes from
Control Magazine and Lothar Lang from Lyondell double-teamed
the keynote session on the second morning, with Walt giving
a perspective on the future as an automation professional
and Lothar giving a first-hand account about the implementation
of alarm management and performance management on a global,
corporate scale.
Ian Nimmo from
User
Centered Design Services gave an afternoon presentation
on the second day looking forward to the future of the DCS
(or lack thereof), and then remained to sit on the alarm management
panel with Doug Rothenberg from
Invensys,
Bridget Fitzpatrick from
Mustang
Engineering, and David Strobhar from
Beville
Engineering.
All-in-all it was an information packed conference with just
enough down time to offset the fast pace of the presentations
and training.
Make sure to keep an eye on our website and future newsletters
for announcements of next year's dates and location.
Thanks again for making this conference a tremendous success!
