TiPS Newsletter - January 2006
Rolling Into 2006
Here's our first newsletter of 2006 (Better late than never - right?).
There are links to a new white paper discussing how alarm management
can help you reach operations performance objectives and an application
note that will help you reduce operator loading and confusion.
Are you using LogMate in a creative way? Let us know! Maybe we'll
write an application note so other LogMate users can benefit.
White Paper Alert:
The Operations Excellence Puzzle.
The Alarm Management Piece.
Alarm management is a relatively new concept in automation. Although
it appears to be very straightforward - "Got an alarm problem? Fix
the alarm system." It's really not that simple. Alarms are a symptom,
they're not the problem. In reality, the far-reaching impact of
managing alarms is proving to be integral if not crucial to the
pursuit of operations excellence and to fully leveraging your investment
in operations assets and personnel.

New LogMate Application Note:
Take a Load Off (Your Operators)
Add an "Alert System" and Remove Ineffective Alarms
Many alarms added to a control system are there simply to inform,
to assure an operator that something that was supposed to happen
- did. While this is good information to be aware of, an alarm is
not the ideal tool to use.

TiPS Makes Control Magazine Reader's Choice
Awards
We made the Control Readers Choice Awards! In a very evenly spread
"Alarm Management Software" category with multiple tying scores,
we ranked third. We also popped up on the quality of service awards,
where only those with a service quality ranking of 4.0 or higher
make the list.
Thanks Control! Thanks users!
